To protect our Future,
we need to save civilization!
March 30, Rolf Witzsche
Yes, we face the possibility that civilization will be destroyed as the
result of the war-drive that is now in progress. Our careers, our
business, our savings, etc., will all be worthless in a world without ‘a
future.’
We mustn't think about the time "after the war." It
won’t come to that. The war against Iraq is not designed to end, but to
expand in ever widening circles to engulf the whole Middle East and
ultimately reach into China and Russia, with repercussions that will
engulf the world. (See After Baghdad Beijing)
There exists no exit strategy, only an escalation strategy, and that
includes the use of nuclear weapons which have already been put on the
table (see Nuclear War).
The war can only end, and civilization be preserved, if we can manage
to stop it. Peace rallies are useful, but they have not prevented the war
from erupting. Many nations, and that includes all the largest nations in
the world, have been trying to get the UN Security Counsel to prevent the
war, and now to stop it. This fight is still ongoing and the results are
far from certain. Ultimately, this war cannot be stopped, unless it is
stopped at the source by direct political intervention in Washington.
Ironically, this offers the most hope. Indeed, the interventions are
already having some effect.
So far, the political action of the Lyndon LaRouche campaign and the
associated international youth movement for a New Renaissance, had kept
the war drive jammed up for several months, and was instrumental in laying
down the groundwork for the removal Richard Perle from the Defense Policy
Board. In a recent article, War, Hitler and Cheney Lyndon LaRouche
(http://larouchein2004.net)
lays out the necessary all-out fight, and a winnable fight, to remove all
the new "Hitlers" from the offices around the U.S. presidency
and administration, and Britain. He is exposing big time, their deep
financial corruption and the American ideological roots in the old fascist
ideology that Adolf Hitler grew out of. (see: Lyndon H.
LaRouche, Jr. A 35 Year Struggle to Protect and Uplift Civilization)
In a sense, as LaRouche is putting it on the line, the American forces in
Iraq are not really fighting an American war in the traditional sense of
defensive, strategic warfare. They are fighting the private war of a few
perverted ideologues who have gained positions of power with potentials
for profit, who have provided
a war horse with all the shining straps and trimmings for the nation's
President to ride. Unfortunately, this is a dying horse, and the nation is
dying with it, while in the background looms the danger of a nuclear war.
Instead of beating up the President for this war, as countless people do around
the world, there is an URGENT need to help the President to get off this
war horse that he should never had to ride. And that means supporting
LaRouche in his efforts to protect the President, the nation, and
civilization as a whole.
Whoever is interested in having a future needs to join this fight. Unless
this fight succeeds, the world has no future, and that includes all of us.
LaRouche writes in his document, War,
Hitler, and Cheney:
The immediate situation of the U.S. is summed up as follows: At
this moment, as I had forewarned you in 1999-2000, we are plunging
into a world depression comparable to, but worse than that of the
Herbert Hoover Depression of 1929-1933. As I forewarned you in an
address, broadcast at the beginning of 2001, new would-be Adolf
Hitlers have now appeared, this time inside the U.S.A. Those would-be
Hitlers now threaten the whole world with the kinds of wars for which
the world later hung Nazi leaders, at Nuremberg: the new Hitlers from
inside the U.S.A. and Blair's government, who act exactly as Hitler
threatened Czechoslovakia in 1938, and invaded Poland in 1939….
We are in an accelerating world depression, while this year's U.S.
Federal deficit already soars in the direction of the $1 trillions
mark. The U.S.A. experienced its "Reichstag Fire" on
September 11, 2001, and the storm-trooper legions of Vice-President
Cheney marched forth from those smoking ruins, brandishing their Mein
Kampf doctrine of "preventive nuclear" war.
Eisenhower against the preventive war utopians:
Monday, March 17, 2003 9:07 AM - {LaRouche Organization}
In mid-1953 most of his military, foreign-policy, and
domestic political advisers were opposed to accepting an
armistice in place in Korea. But Eisenhower insisted on peace.
Five times in 1954, virtually the entire NSC, JCS, and State
Department recommended that he intervene in Asia, even using
atomic bombs against China. First, in April, as the Dien Bien
Phu situation grew critical. Second, in May, on the eve of the
fall of Dien Bien Phu. Third, in late June, when the French said
the Chinese were about to enter the Indochina conflict. Fourth,
in September when the Chinese began shelling Quemoy and Matsu.
[islands off the Chinese Mainland in control of the Nationalists,
ed.] Fifth, in November, when the Chinese announced the prison
terms for the American Fliers.
``Five times in one year the experts advised the President
to launch an atomic strike against China. Five time he said no.
He did so most dramatically in a news conference in late
November, when he was asked about the possibilities of a
preventive strike against the Chinese. Eisenhower took ten
minutes to reply, in off-the-cuff remarks that were delivered
with visible emotion. After giving a lengthy analysis,
Eisenhower leaned forward and said he wanted to `talk a little
bit personally.' He admitted that `a President experiences
exactly the same resentments, the same anger, the same kind of
sense of frustration almost, when things like this occur to other
Americans, and his impulse is to lash out.' He said he knew that
would be the `easy course' as well. The nation would be `united
automatically.' It would close ranks behind the leader. The job
would become a simple one: win the war. `There is a real fervor
developed throughout the nation that you can feel everywhere you
go. There is practically an exhilaration about the affair.'
Eisenhower confessed that he was not immune to those feelings: In
the intellectual and spiritual contest of matching wits and
getting along to see if you can win, there comes about something
`an atmosphere is created; an attitude is created to which I am
not totally unfamiliar.'
``Five times in one year the experts had advised him to
enjoy that experience once again. But Eisenhower had other
memories too. He reminded the reporters of his own favorite line
from Robert E. Lee: `It is well that war is so terrible; if it
were not so, we would grow too fond of it.' He said he had
personally experienced `the job of writing mothers and wives.
That is a very sobering experience.' So he pleaded with the
reporters, and through them to the people, to think things
through before rushing off to act. Try to imagine the results,
he said. `Don't go to war in response to emotions of anger and
resentment, do it prayerfully.'
``Five times in 1954 Eisenhower prayed over the question of
war or peace. Each time, he made the decision to stay at
peace.''

A crucial element
in LaRouche's intervention to save civilization is his long term commitment
to a positive process for generating peace that is focused on creating a New
Renaissance. This can only be achieved by focusing on the scientific
development of the cognitive processes of the human mind with advanced
education and classical literature, music, and humanist culture. The
International LaRouche movement is focused on these cultural elements as a necessary
foundation for uplifting society, and themselves, above the dehumanizing
effects of hate, greed, poverty, violence, and force of war. In this sense, beauty
and joy have become a necessary political 'weapon' for creating the New
Renaissance that humanity so desperately needs in this era of escalating
crisis.

LAROUCHE
INTERVENED right through to the CRUCIAL WEEK (March 16, 2003) before the
start of the war.
Today, the first 150,000 copies are being shipped out to regions,
of the million-run mass distribution broadside called
``LaRouche's Summary Report on the Situation Today.'' The world
is continuing to come out in opposition to the insane Iraq war,
but the decision will come inside the United States, and
LaRouche's role is critical. See the text of a second mass leaflet
exposing Leo Strauss disciple John Ashcroft and his Heinrich
Himmler II Act.
When briefed on the Azores ``summit'' statements by George
W. Bush and Tony Blair, and the full range of developments on
Sunday, including warmonger Dick Cheney's two national TV
appearances to deliver a pro-Empire diatribe, demanding
preventive war in Iraq, Lyndon LaRouche said that the Bush-Blair
posture is either ``utter madness or psywar,'' like the Nazis'
{Schrecklichkeit} tactics. It is all the more insane, since the
UN Security Council majority is clearly opposed to the war, with
France-Germany-Russia issuing yet another joint call for measures
to reach a peaceful solution -- reportedly with support from
China.
LaRouche said that if George W. Bush cares so much about the
lives of Americans, as he insists is the reason for going to war
against Saddam Hussein, then the United States should immediately
denounce the killing of a young American woman by the Israeli
Defense Forces bulldozer on March 16, when she was crushed to
death at the Rafa refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. The woman was
there as part of a group of peace volunteers who are protesting
the deadly IDF house demolitions.
``The point is, the U.S. must make an immediate denunciation
of the Israeli killing in this incident,'' said LaRouche. ``All
this talk about defending Americans lives. Doesn't the President
think an American life is worth anything?''
The contrast of the Iraq war drive, and this Gaza incident,
underlines the insanity. Lyn said that what you have is, two
heads of state going to nowhere (the Azores), to meet with a
non-entity (Aznar). The ``summit'' was one hour long, and the
``press conference,'' took four questions, but all the answers
were evasions. There was nothing said in the Azores because Bush
and Tony Blair didn't even know what to say. Woebegone Prime
Minister Jose Durao Barroso of Portugal, the unfortunate host of
the Azores get-together, said that if there is a ``one-in-a-
million chance'' to avoid military action it should be taken.
The Portugese Prime Minister was reflecting the reality that
the majority of the human race, and the governments that
represent them, continue to mobilize against the war:
* On March 16, France, Germany and Russia put out a joint
statement calling for a Foreign Ministers' summit of all the
members of the UN Security Council as an alternative to war.
``All this can be done in a rapid timeframe and in respect for
the rules fixed by the Security Council,'' said the statement.
* Millions of people demonstrated throughout the world on
Saturday and Sunday, with one of the largest being in Spain,
where more than a million people turned out in Madrid, Barcelona,
and other cities.
* French President Jacques Chirac gave an interview to
CBS-TV's ``60 Minutes'' program, details of which are not yet
available.
* In his Sunday sermon, Pope John Paul II gave an
impassioned call for peace, saying that the use of force must be
a ``last resort,'' under the ``principles of the UN Charter.'' He
said ``There is still time to negotiate; there is still time for
peace.'' ``The next days will be decisive,'' said the Pope,
echoing the message that Lyndon LaRouche delivered to the world
in his Presidential campaign statement, ``What Secretary Powell
did not Say,'' that was mass distributed last week, and in the
new campaign broadsheet to go out starting today.
According to news accounts right after the Azores meeting,
Bush may go on national television tonight, or later in the week,
to deliver a final ultimatum, and, then, possibly proceed with
his ``go-it-alone'' war, in defiance of the UN Charter. As LaRouche
said, it's either madness or psywar.
